Chemistry is often referred to as the “central science” because it joins physics, biology, mathematics and the earth and environmental sciences. Chemistry helps explain a wide range of processes, including plant growth (botany), the formation of igneous rocks (geology), the ozone and how it is affected by humans (ecology), how medications work (pharmacology) and crime scene evidence (forensics).
As a Webster University Chemistry major, you’ll engage in coursework in chemistry, physics and mathematics. Webster’s BS in Chemistry is an excellent starting point for a professional career in medicine or other health sciences area and fulfills the prerequisites for medical, dental, pharmacy and veterinary professional programs.
Chemistry majors at Webster conduct a deep dive into the theories and applications of organic, inorganic, analytical, physical and biochemistry. The program includes significant laboratory work, allowing you to become proficient in the skills necessary to succeed in a chemistry career.
